Admission and discharge guideline
Paying in Cash
For cash paying patients, full deposit is payable on admission.
Paying through insurance/employer
For payments being done through the insurance or through the employer:-
- A duly filled pre-authorization form is sent to insurance for further advice about bill payment (on admission).
- On admission member should present their insurance membership card.
If the patient is an NHIF contributor, please provide the following:
- A valid NHIF card, with up to date contributions
- If the patient is a dependent (either spouse or children) they must be registered with contributor’s card.
- If the patient is a spouse and he/she is using the contributor’s card, the spouse will be required to produce contributors Identification card (ID)
- If the patient is a dependant and he/she is above the age of 18 years, a letter from their secondary school or college bearing a reference number is required.
- For surgical cases, a duly filled pre-authorization form is sent to NHIF office for further advice about bill payment.
Types of admissions available
- PrivateWing: The wing has 9 self contained rooms equipped with a TV, Washroom and Visitors Sofas.
- General ward
- Paediatric ward
- Medical ward
- Surgical ward
- Maternity ward
Admissions have 3 main sections:
- Nursing /clinical Section
- Admitting clerk
- Customer Service Desk
The discharge process is initiated by the Doctor or Medical Officer, discharge is authorized when the patient is fit to leave the hospital. Clinical officer stationed in the ward writes the discharge notes and forward the patients file to cashiers for billing.
At the cashiers point, patients using cash as the mode of payment will be cleared and issued with discharge summary and invoice. For NHIF cards holders they are cleared from the NHIF office and issued with discharge summary and invoice. The patient or relative will pick the drugs to take home from the Out-patient pharmacy; discharge summary should be taken to the ward for signing by nurse.
Discharge will take a maximum of 2 hrs, where the above are available. However, should the discharge take more than 2 hrs, Contact the Hospital Public Relations Office.
